Powdery Mildew is the most common and costly disease affecting vineyards, causing more crop losses than any other grape pest. To help combat this issue, Agromee247 has sponsored a course that explores different fungicide classes, treatment options, resistance management, and regional differences in disease development. The course will also cover the Powdery Mildew Risk Assessment Index (RAI), which can predict infections. Effective management strategies must consider local conditions that either favor or inhibit pathogen reproduction, as seasonal patterns of disease development vary from region to region and year to year. Early-season inoculum and subsequent infections must be reduced through well-timed fungicide applications to control the disease throughout the season. Spray timing, frequency, and coverage are crucial factors that vary depending on local weather, temperature, varietal susceptibility, vine growth stage, and material choice.
